We would like to take this moment to announce our celebration for the many months of organizing in demanding that the city recognize the voices of the residents in East Phillips for sustainable and healthy communities. Today we announce with a joyful spirit that -due to our pressure- the acquisition Roof Depot property will NOT proceed. Let's remember that the community fought and the community won. Without us, no development will happen in East Phillips. We want to thank everyone for their hard work and energy. We also want to thank the Council Members who stood with us: Elizabeth Glidden, Cam Gordon, Andrew Johnson, and Alondra Cano.
It is time to celebrate, applaud, give out hugs, and definitely move our campaign forward, declaring that if any person, institution or company wants to move into our neighborhood they must first sign a Community Benefits Agreement with us on sustainability, inclusiveness, and employment. We will keep building and organizing for a real and lasting vision of Environmental Justice!
Please come to our next meeting:
We will be hosting our monthly gatherings and potlucks, starting this month at on August 19th at 530pm, location to be announced. Come with an appetite for justice, change, and organic local foods!
